British Honduras issued official 1962 coinage to mark the centenary of its first decimal currency, but this copper-nickel piece exists outside that official production run. Pattern strikings for the cent anniversary year were produced in multiple metal compositions as the Colonial Office and local treasury evaluated switching away from the existing cupro-nickel alloy specifications. Most were never formally approved, and surviving examples lack consistent documentation in Treasury correspondence.
