| 背面描述 | Central to the field is a stylised, toy-like wooden echidna rendered in a posable, articulated form reminiscent of a classic children's pull-along toy, its characteristic spines fanning dramatically outward to fill the upper and lateral fields. The echidna's segmented limbs, rounded body panels with wood-grain texturing, and elongated snout are rendered in high relief, conveying a whimsical, craft-inspired aesthetic. Flanking the lower portion of the design are scattered rounded wooden toy elements, and the denomination numeral 5 is prominently displayed in the lower central field beneath the main figure. |

The "wooden echidna" nickname comes from the deliberately stylized, almost geometric rendering commissioned as part of the RAM's broader effort to refresh Australia's decimal coinage designs for the first time in decades. The 6th portrait of Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark, was introduced to Australian coinage in 2019 — making this series among the last to bear her effigy before her death in September 2022 cut the run short.
