| Descrizione del dritto | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, the fourth definitive portrait as adopted for Canadian coinage, depicting the monarch at approximately 77 years of age, bare-headed and uncrowned, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The legend ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA encircles the effigy within the coin's border, with the engraver's initials SB appearing below the truncation. The portrait was executed by Susan Taylor after the original model by Susanna Blunt and conveys a mature, dignified likeness in the tradition of Commonwealth coinage. |

Kruger-Gray and associated with the Canadian five-cent series since 1937. The denomination 5 CENTS appears above the beaver and the country name CANADA is inscribed below, with the date flanking the device at either side along with the engraver's initials K·G. A maple leaf ornament appears on each side of the central composition. The RCM mint logo is present on the reverse field, identifying issues struck under the magnetic plated steel specification. |
