Additional information

Fiji's decimal coinage underwent a significant redesign in 2012, when the country simultaneously reduced the size of its circulating coins and introduced a new series with a distinctly local visual identity. The colored variant of this denomination was produced for collector purposes — applied color on circulating-format coins became a favored low-cost commemorative technique for Pacific island issuers during this period, requiring no change to the underlying die or specification.
