The motto ribbon at the base of the arms bears the legend !KE E: /XARRA //KE in the /Xam language of the Khoisan people. The country name AFURIKA TSHIPEMBE in Venda appears along the left and right periphery respectively, with the date 2011 arching above, and the engraver's initials ALS inscribed at the lower field.
