Obverse description The post-2000 South African national coat of arms depicted centrally in the field, featuring a Kori bustard with outstretched wings surmounting a shield charged with two human figures in the style of San rock art, flanked by crossed spears and knobkieries, with wheat sheaves at the base and a rising sun motif above. The motto ribbon at the base of the arms bears the legend !KE E: /XARRA //KE in the /Xam language of the Khoisan people. The country name AFURIKA TSHIPEMBE in Venda appears along the left and right periphery respectively, with the date 2011 arching above, and the engraver's initials ALS inscribed at the lower field.
