| Opmerkingen |
The 9th Infantry Division was based at Dong Tam in the Mekong Delta from 1967, one of the more operationally brutal postings of the Vietnam War. NCO/EM mess scrip like this circulated within the division's enlisted and non-commissioned officer dining facilities as an internal accounting tool — soldiers purchased meal tickets or small items without drawing on Military Payment Certificates or host-nation currency, both of which carried restrictions and conversion complications.
Dating these pieces precisely within the 1966–1969 window is difficult. The division stood up stateside before deploying, and some mess scrip was printed before embarkation.
