| 正面描述 | The Maltese national coat of arms as used from 1975 to 1988, featuring a quartered shield depicting a coastal landscape with a rising sun, a traditional Maltese fishing boat (luzzu), agricultural implements (a shovel and a pitchfork), and an Opuntia cactus plant. Malta's decimal coinage, introduced in 1972 following the country's switch from pounds and mils, was produced under a series of contracts with the Royal Mint in Llantrisant. By 1986, the island was three years into Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici's administration and navigating a period of strict non-alignment foreign policy that kept Malta out of NATO and complicated relations with both the EEC and Libya simultaneously.
KM#77 saw mintages across several years of the 1980s without major variety issues recorded in the standard references.
