Obverse description Draped bust of Marianne facing right, wearing a Phrygian-style cap with her hair arranged in waves, holding an olive branch in her left hand. A decorative panel at the bust truncation bears a lion's head in relief, characteristic of Pierre Turin's Art Deco style. The engraver's signature P.TURIN appears in the right field. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE curves along the upper periphery within a beaded border, and the date 1946 is inscribed in the exergue.

Reverse description A central rice plant with two prominent ears of grain rises vertically, dividing the denomination numeral '5' on the left from the abbreviation 'CENT.' on the right, rendered in large Art Deco lettering. The legend INDOCHINE FRANCAISE arcs along the upper periphery in two sections flanking the rice stalks. The mint mark appears at the lower left of the field within a beaded border. The overall composition is bold and geometric, consistent with the interwar French colonial coinage style.
