Obverse description Central device comprises a large heraldic shield with horizontal lines in the chief and vertical lines in the lower field, flanked on either side by ornate scrollwork and leafy branches bearing buds. A bold numeral '5' appears atop the shield's crest, surmounted by a decorative scroll finial. The legend IN GOD WE TRUST arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, while the date 1866, separated by a central ornamental pellet, is positioned in the lower field beneath the shield. The entire design is enclosed by a finely beaded border typical of Longacre's mid-19th century engraving style.
