Opmerkingen

Torreperogil is a small olive-growing municipality in Jaén province, Andalusia, and this 5 céntimos note is a product of the acute small-change crisis that paralyzed Republican-held Spain from mid-1936 onward. The nationalization of copper and the hoarding of coins left town councils across the country scrambling to print their own fractional scrip — locally known as moneda de guerra or emergency municipal paper — just to keep daily commerce moving at markets and bakeries.

The Gari Mon catalog records only a handful of Torreperogil emissions, and this A-variant suggests at least one printing run distinction within the series, though surviving populations are thin enough that precise quantities remain undocumented.
