Serón is a small municipality in Almería province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, its local council issued emergency fractional paper when Republican-zone coinage vanished from circulation almost overnight after July 1936. These municipal emergency notes — known collectively as "papel moneda de necesidad" — were produced locally, often on whatever paper and printing equipment the town had to hand, which accounts for the crude production quality common across the entire category.
The Gari Monerris catalogue remains the primary reference for this material. Attribution can be tricky at this denomination level; many Almería province issues exist in multiple variants distinguished only by minor typographic differences or paper stock.
