5 Céntimos Premià de Mar

Premià de Mar is a small coastal municipality north of Barcelona, and like hundreds of Catalan towns during the Civil War, it issued its own fractional emergency currency when coinage effectively disappeared from circulation in 1936–37. The Republican government's wartime economic disruption — combined with hoarding and the collapse of small-denomination coin supply — forced local ajuntaments to print their own paper.
