| Opmerkingen |
Noalejo is a small municipality in the province of Jaén, Andalusia, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War years, its local council issued fractional emergency currency when Republican-zone coin shortages became acute — typically from 1936 onward. These consejo municipal notes were purely local instruments, valid only within the issuing township, and most circulated into near-destruction before hostilities ended.
Thick card stock was the typical substrate for these micro-denominations precisely because it survived handling better than thin paper. Few archives tracked print runs for issues at this level of local government.
