Cervera del Maestre is a small municipality in Castellón province, and like hundreds of Valencian towns during the Civil War, its local council issued fractional emergency paper when Republican-zone coinage effectively vanished from circulation. The Consejo Municipal issues of 1937 were stopgap instruments, often produced on whatever printing stock was locally available, with very short useful lives before they were superseded or simply abandoned as the war moved on.
The Gari Mon catalogue documents enormous variation in quality and survival across these Valencian municipals. Many were issued in tiny quantities and survive today almost by accident.
