Castellet i la Gornal — the municipality's full name by the time these notes circulated — was a small Garraf comarca settlement whose wartime emergency issues fall within the vast body of Catalan local currency produced during the Civil War. The Generalitat de Catalunya authorized municipalities to issue small-denomination paper in 1936 precisely because Republican-zone coinage had effectively vanished from circulation, hoarded or melted.
Turró 722 is among the less-documented village issues; surviving examples are scarce simply because production runs for settlements this size were tiny, and few were preserved rather than spent.
