Centre Obrer U.G.T. Camarles was a local labour union branch in a small Ebro Delta municipality in Tarragona province. During the Spanish Civil War, the near-total collapse of small-denomination coinage — hoarded immediately once fighting broke out — forced hundreds of Catalan municipalities, cooperatives, and union bodies to print their own emergency fractional currency. This note is one of those pieces: a union-issued substitute for coins that the Republic could no longer keep in circulation.

The U.G.T. (Unión General de Trabajadores) affiliation places it within the socialist trade union network rather than the anarchist CNT, though in practice both issued similar scrip in Republican-held Catalonia throughout the conflict.
