Bagà is a small mountain town in the Berguedà comarca of Catalonia, and like hundreds of other Catalan municipalities during the Spanish Civil War, it issued its own emergency fractional currency when the Republic's small-denomination coins effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply unavailable. These local issues, catalogued collectively under the broader *bitllets locals* documentation efforts, were produced under wildly varying conditions: some by proper printers, others by local workshops with whatever materials were at hand.
Cardboard construction is typical of the poorer-resourced municipal issues, and Bagà's note falls squarely in that category. Turró 263 places it among the documented survivors, though the print run and redemption history for this specific emission remain unrecorded.
