| 表面の銘文 | BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ 2013 (Translation: Central Reserve Bank of Peru 2013) |
| 裏面の説明 | The bold numeral '5' dominates the upper central field, with the denomination CÉNTIMOS inscribed in a recessed legend immediately below. Flanking the numeral on either side are stylised Chimú geometric motifs inspired by the archaeological heritage of Chan Chan, rendered as abstract anthropomorphic and stepped figures. A horizontal frieze of repeating geometric elements runs beneath the denomination inscription, and the Lima Mint mark appears at the lower field. |

Peru's aluminium 5 céntimos was introduced as a cost-cutting measure after the brass version became worth more in raw metal than in face value — a recurring problem across Latin America during the commodity price surges of the mid-2000s. The switch to aluminium kept the denomination economically viable, though the coins were widely disliked for their lightness and tendency to be refused by vending machines.
