Additional information

This is one of several pattern submissions evaluated by the Monnaie de Paris during the early Fifth Republic's currency redesign program, which ultimately produced the new centime series introduced alongside the nouveau franc in 1960. Joly's first small-module proposal in stainless steel represents the kind of rejected trial that rarely survives institutional culling — most were melted or archived without registry. The GEM classification indicates survival in the Monnaie de Paris's own reference collection rather than through circulation or public sale.
