| Obverse description | Laureate bust of King Louis-Philippe I facing left, rendered in high relief in the neoclassical style by engraver Jean-Jacques Barre, whose name appears incused at the base of the truncation. The king is depicted with short curled hair surmounted by a laurel wreath, with naturalistic facial features and a bare neck and shoulder truncation. The circular legend reads LOUIS PHILIPPE I to the left and ROI DES FRANÇAIS to the right, separated by the truncation.
