Popis líce	Four crowned royal cyphers of Léopold II, each formed by two interlaced 'L' letters, are arranged symmetrically around a central round hole, oriented at the cardinal points of the design. Each monogram is surmounted by a royal crown, with the four groups radiating outward in a cross-like pattern. The field between the monograms is plain. A beaded inner border surrounds the central motif, with the full circular legend reading 'LEOPOLD II ROI DES BELGES SOUV. DE L'ETAT INDEP. DU CONGO' running between the beaded inner and outer borders.

Popis rubu	A large five-pointed star with radiating sunburst rays fills the field, its center pierced by the characteristic round hole of the series. The star's arms feature a dotted ridge along their centerlines, with fine engraved radial lines emanating outward between each point, creating a bold and decorative effect. Four small five-pointed stars are positioned in the lower left and lower right fields, flanking the central motif. The denomination '5 C.ES' is inscribed in the upper field, and the date '1887' appears in the lower exergue, flanked by the engraver's initial 'L' on the left and 'W' on the right. A beaded border runs along the coin's rim.
