| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Ceres, the allegorical figure of the French Republic, wearing a wreath of grain and with flowing hair rendered in fine detail. The bust is positioned centrally within the field, surrounded by a beaded border running along the full circumference. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE arcs around the periphery, with the engraver's name OUDINE appearing at the lower right of the bust. The design, executed by Eugène-André Oudiné, reflects the neo-classical style characteristic of mid-nineteenth-century French coinage. |
