| Description du revers | Reverse printed entirely in black letterpress on ochre-toned paper, bearing a multi-line French-language text setting out the redemption conditions of the coupon. The text stipulates that the Syndicat, open every Thursday from 8 to 10 o'clock, will exchange worn coupons for new ones, and will redeem coupons against Banque de l'Algérie notes provided they are presented in a minimum amount of 5 francs, with proceeds deposited at the Crédit Foncier for reimbursement. The denomination 'Cinq Centimes' appears at the foot of the text. |

Emergency small-change notes issued during WWI by a local merchants' syndicate in Bône (now Annaba, Algeria), filling the void left when metallic coinage disappeared from circulation almost entirely after 1914. The French government tolerated — and effectively encouraged — these private syndicat issues rather than flood the colonies with emergency coinage from already-strained metropolitan mints.
The Syndicat Commercial Bônois was one of dozens of such bodies across French North Africa that stepped into the gap. These notes had no legal tender status in any formal sense, yet they circulated freely within local commerce because merchants who issued them also accepted them.
