Obverse description Central field dominated by the large bold monogram 'RF' (République Française) flanking the central round hole, rendered in an Art Nouveau style with elegant serif letterforms. Above the hole, a Phrygian cap — the traditional emblem of Liberty — is depicted in relief, its tip projecting toward the upper rim. The design is framed by a wreath of oak branches with acorns, arranged symmetrically on either side and meeting at the base of the coin. A rope-twist border runs along the outer edge. The engraver's signature 'EM LINDAUER' appears at the bottom of the field, below the wreath.
