| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the large bold monogram 'RF' (République Française) flanking the central round hole, rendered in an Art Nouveau style with elegant serif letterforms. Above the hole, a Phrygian cap — the traditional emblem of Liberty — is depicted in relief, its tip projecting toward the upper rim. The design is framed by a wreath of oak branches with acorns, arranged symmetrically on either side and meeting at the base of the coin. A rope-twist border runs along the outer edge. The engraver's signature 'EM LINDAUER' appears at the bottom of the field, below the wreath. |
