| 正面铭文 | ROYAL MINT TRIAL |
| 背面描述 | Central field features the large numeral '5' in bold raised relief, below which appears the denomination 'CENTESIMOS' in two lines of Latin capitals arranged vertically within the inner circle. The small incuse initials 'I·M·I·KN·B' appear beneath the numeral '5', likely referencing the die maker or engraver. The central device is framed by a wreath of two wheat or laurel branches rising from the base, tied at the foot with a ribbon bow, and meeting at the top of the wreath. A raised inner border ring separates the central device from the smooth outer rim. |

In 1960 the Royal Mint produced a series of pattern and trial pieces for Panama as the country evaluated coinage proposals. This steel specimen was almost certainly struck as a composition trial rather than a design trial — testing whether steel could serve as a practical substitute for the silver-clad and cupro-nickel alloys then under consideration for circulating Panamanian coinage.
Steel was never adopted for Panamanian centesimos.
