| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King Victor Emmanuel III facing right, rendered in high relief with bold, sculptural modeling characteristic of the Fascist-era Italian coinage style. The king is depicted with a strong, austere profile devoid of any adornment. The legend VITT·EM· arcs along the left rim and III·RE·E·IMP· along the right rim, abbreviating Vittorio Emanuele III Re e Imperatore (King and Emperor). The field is smooth and unadorned, directing full attention to the royal portrait. |

| Reverse description | A Fascist eagle displayed with wings spread wide, perched atop a fasces in the center of the field, rendered in bold relief in the official Fascist iconographic style. The legend ITALIA arcs along the upper rim. Beneath the eagle, the date and regnal year in Roman numerals (e.g. 1940 XVIII) flank the Savoy shield, below which the denomination C.5 is prominently struck. The mint mark R for the Rome Mint appears at lower left, and the engraver's signature G. ROMAGNOLI is inscribed along the lower exergue. |
