Opmerkingen

The Cassa Veneta dei Prestiti was a military credit institution established by Austro-Hungarian occupying authorities following their advance into Venetia after the Italian disaster at Caporetto in October 1917. These notes were issued to facilitate transactions in occupied Italian territory — a parallel currency designed to displace the lira in circulation while extracting economic value from the zone under occupation.

At this denomination, the notes circulated intensively among the civilian population and wore quickly. The occupation ended with the Armistice of November 1918, leaving large quantities unredeemed and the institution itself dissolved within weeks of Austrian collapse.
