Surmounting the circle is a crescent and five-pointed star device, a symbol associated with Somalia. Surrounding the central medallion, a wavy ribbon carries bilingual legends: ROMA and the date 1950 in Latin script to the left and right respectively, with the Arabic inscription ضرب في روما سنة ١٣٦٩ (meaning 'minted in Rome, year 1369') arranged along the lower arc.

附加信息	Italy administered Somalia as a UN Trust Territory beginning in 1950, a ten-year mandate explicitly designed to prepare the territory for independence — which arrived on schedule in 1960. This coinage was produced specifically for that administration, replacing the earlier Italian East Africa issues and circulating alongside a currency system pegged to the Italian lira at a fixed rate. The entire series was struck at the Rome Mint.
