Obverse description Central device depicts the Sol de Mayo (Sun of May), the traditional Argentine national symbol, rendered with a human face at centre surrounded by alternating straight and wavy rays radiating outward to the field. The design is executed in moderate relief against a flat field. A continuous beaded border frames the entire obverse. The curved legend REPUBLICA ARGENTINA runs along the upper periphery, while the motto EN UNION Y LIBERTAD arcs along the lower periphery, both in raised Latin lettering separated by small raised dots.
