Obverse description The Cuban coat of arms occupies the central field, flanked by four flags arranged symmetrically on either side. The curved legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery. Five six-pointed stars are disposed along the lower portion of the design, the central star being notably larger than the four flanking stars.

Reverse description The denomination 5 CENT. is prominently displayed at center, with a five-pointed star positioned below the numeral. An olive or laurel wreath frames the central device on either side. The circular legend MONEDA PROVISIONAL arcs along the upper periphery, while the engraver or mint initials P and C.T. appear in the lateral fields. The date 1870 is inscribed in the exergue.
