| 背面描述 | The central field features a large, bold numeral 5 occupying the majority of the inner circle, denoting the denomination. Surrounding this central device, the peripheral legend reads EN DIOS CONFIAMOS arching across the upper half, while CINCO CENTAVOS DE CÓRDOBA runs along the lower half, all separated by raised dots. The design is clean and typographic in character, with no additional pictorial elements. |

Issued as part of the global FAO coinage program, which commissioned participating nations to mint coins explicitly tied to agricultural development messaging. Nicaragua's entry came just a year before the Somoza government faced intensifying opposition, and the country was still rebuilding from the catastrophic 1972 Managua earthquake that had killed thousands and decimated the capital. Aluminium was the practical choice for small-denomination FAO issues across Latin America — cheap, lightweight, and appropriate for coins meant to circulate widely rather than accumulate.
