| Obverse description | Central device depicts the Mexican republican eagle displayed, perched left upon a cactus plant growing from a rock surrounded by water, with a serpent held in its beak and talon. The eagle is rendered in low relief with noticeably weak and crude die work consistent with a contemporary counterfeit production. The circular legend REPUBLICA MEXICANA runs along the upper periphery, with the date 1892 appearing in the lower exergue. A beaded border surrounds the entire design. |
