| Additional information |
Colombia's 1902 silver coinage was struck under extraordinary duress — the country was in the final, grinding phase of the Thousand Days War, a civil conflict between Liberal and Conservative factions that killed an estimated 100,000 people and left the national treasury functionally destroyed. The reduced fineness of .666 reflects deliberate debasement; prewar Colombian silver had run considerably finer.
The Restrepo reference places this among a cluster of issues whose actual mint of origin remains disputed among specialists.
