Obverse description The Ecuadorian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting an oval shield charged with Mount Chimborazo and a steamship on water, surmounted by a radiant sun, and flanked by four national flags and palm and laurel branches. A condor with outstretched wings perches atop the shield as crest. The circular legend REPUBLICA DEL ECUADOR arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin characters, while the date 1946 is inscribed in the lower field beneath the arms. The design is framed by a fine beaded border.
