Obverse description The Honduran national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting an oval escutcheon bearing a pyramid rising from a landscape without clouds, flanked by two cornucopias and surmounted by a Phrygian cap above a quiver of arrows. The shield is supported on either side by a standing lion, and the entire device is rendered in moderate relief. A circular legend around the inner field of the escutcheon reads the republic's motto, with the date of independence inscribed therein. The peripheral legend REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS curves along the upper rim, while the four-digit date appears prominently in the lower field. The coin border is dentilated on this example.
