| Obverse description | The Nicaraguan national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting five volcanic peaks rising from the sea enclosed within an equilateral triangle, surmounted by a Phrygian cap emitting rays and a rainbow above. The triangle is flanked on either side by branches bearing flowers and foliage. The circumferential legend REPUBLICA DE NICARAGUA arcs across the upper portion of the coin, while the commemorative date 15 DE SETIEMBRE 1821, marking Nicaraguan independence, runs along the lower arc, separated by small star ornaments. The entire design is framed by a fine beaded border. |
