Beschrijving keerzijde A large numeral 5 enclosed within a plain circle occupies the centre of the field, flanked to the left by the word PENKI and to the right by CENTAI in capital letters. A decorative floral spray rises above the central circle, with stems and stylised flower buds arching symmetrically toward the upper rim. Small ornamental flourishes flank the central motif on either side below the legend, completing the design.

Aanvullende informatie

Lithuania's first independent coinage series, issued from 1925, was produced entirely at the Birmingham Mint under contract — the young republic lacked its own minting infrastructure. The 5 Centai was part of an initial batch that established the Litas system, itself introduced in 1922 to replace the Ostmark and stabilize an economy ravaged by occupation and the aftermath of WWI.

The Birmingham connection means these coins are consistently well-manufactured, with none of the planchet irregularities common to newly established national mints working through early production problems.
