The Aletai meteorite field in Xinjiang, China, is one of the largest known strewn fields on Earth, with individual masses recovered over centuries — some fragments exceeding 20 tonnes. The meteorite embedded in this coin is genuine pallasite or iron-nickel material sourced from that field, making the inclusion scientifically legitimate rather than decorative novelty.
Ghana has no particular astronomical or geological connection to the Aletai find. The Bank of Ghana issues these numismatic pieces purely as a licensing vehicle — a common arrangement among smaller sovereigns whose mint programs are managed almost entirely by European bullion coin producers, in this case almost certainly the Czech-based Czech Mint.
