| Description du revers | A highly detailed snake skull rendered in ultra high relief occupies the centre of the field, with a serpent sinuously intertwining around the cranium and emerging through the eye orbit. The anatomical precision of the skull, including the jawbone structure and cranial sutures, is accentuated by the deep relief striking technique. The serpent's body coils expressively around and beneath the skull, its tail curling at the base to echo the shaped contour of the coin's lower border. The overall composition is dramatic and naturalistic, exploiting the shaped flan to integrate the snake's form into the coin's outline. |
