| Reverse description | Cast reverse featuring two large Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) flanking the central square hole: 天 (Tian, 'Heavenly') to the right and 國 (Guo, 'Kingdom') to the left, together reading 天國 (Tian Guo — Heavenly Kingdom), referencing the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. The characters are raised in bold relief against a plain, flat field, enclosed by a plain raised rim. The casting is consistent with other Taiping rebel coinage of the early 1860s. |
