Kong Fanjin was a short-lived warlord administration in Gansu (Kansu) Province during the fractured late 1920s, when central Nationalist authority had not yet consolidated control over the northwest. This piece is catalogued only as a pattern — KM#Pn1 — suggesting it never entered circulation, or did so in quantities too small to document reliably. Tianshui, the issuing city, sits on the Wei River corridor and changed hands repeatedly during this period.
The brass composition is notable given the region's chronic metal shortages in 1928.
