Obverse description Cast bronze cash coin featuring the four-character reign inscription 大中通寶 (Da Zhong Tong Bao) arranged in regular script (kaishu) reading top-bottom-right-left around a central square perforation. The characters are boldly rendered in raised relief against a flat, unadorned field, with no inner or outer rim decoration beyond the raised border. The square central hole is neatly defined by a raised rim. The overall design is austere and typical of late Yuan transitional coinage issued under Zhu Yuanzhang's Great Zhong regime prior to the establishment of the Ming dynasty.
