Reverse description The reverse carries a trilingual legend arranged around the central square perforation, reflecting the multi-ethnic administrative character of the Xinjiang mint. Above the square hole, the Chinese characters 年八 (Ba Nian, 'Year Eight') appear at the top, while the Chinese numeral 五 (Wu, 'Five') is positioned at the bottom, denoting the denomination of 5 cash. To the right, the Manchu script reads 'Aksu' (ᠠᡴᠰᡠ), identifying the issuing mint, and to the left, the corresponding Old Uyghur (Chagatai Arabic script) legend اقسو similarly records the mint name. The raised legends are boldly cast within plain inner and outer rims, the surface showing green and brown patination.
