Four large Chinese characters arranged in cruciform order around the central perforation, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left: 崇 (top), 禎 (bottom), 通 (right), 寶 (left), forming the reign-title inscription Chongzhen Tongbao. Characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) and are bold and well-struck against a flat field. A raised outer rim borders the coin's circumference. |
