Obverse description	The obverse is printed in black on a pale orange-brown tint, with the bank title 'Potosí' in large Gothic script across the upper left, flanked by a vertical 'BANCO' panel at far left. A central vignette presents a steam locomotive at a station with rolling stock and industrial scenery rendered in fine intaglio engraving. To the right, a seated allegorical female figure reclines against the right margin, while guilloche rosettes and lathe-work ornaments occupy the lower left and lower right corners. The denomination numeral '5' appears in a decorative lozenge at upper right and in counters at lower left and lower right.

Reverse description	The reverse is printed in a uniform steel-blue ink and dominated by an elaborate guilloche framework of interlocking lathe-work panels and floral corner ornaments. At the centre, an oval vignette contains an allegorical standing female figure holding a staff or lance, surrounded by fine engine-turned borders. The denomination numeral '5' appears in counter medallions at the left and right of the central vignette. The issuer name is rendered in letterpress along the lower margin.
