背面描述 Uniformed bust of General Juan Vicente Gómez facing forward, wearing a military peaked cap and a heavily decorated dress uniform with epaulettes, aiguillettes, and medal ribbons across the chest. The portrait is rendered in high relief with considerable detail in the facial features, including a prominent moustache. A circular legend in Latin script surrounds the effigy within a beaded border, reading BENEMERITO GENERAL JUAN V GOMEZ around the upper arc and PAZ Y along the lower left field.

附加信息

The 1930 5 Bolívares was struck during the dictatorship of Juan Vicente Gómez, who had ruled Venezuela since seizing power in 1908 and would continue to do so until his death in 1935. Venezuela's oil boom — Maracaibo basin production had made the country the world's leading petroleum exporter by the late 1920s — gave Gómez both the revenue and the political motivation to retire Venezuela's foreign debt entirely in 1930, an event he celebrated with considerable fanfare. This coin was part of that moment.

The Philadelphia Mint struck the issue under contract, as Venezuela lacked domestic minting capacity.
