| Reverse description | The reverse presents a finely engraved bare-headed portrait bust of Simón Bolívar in left-facing profile, rendered in high relief with careful attention to the subject's naturalistic facial features and wavy hair, in the neoclassical style characteristic of the French engraver A. Barre. The legend 'BOLIVAR' arcs along the left periphery and 'LIBERTADOR' along the right periphery. The engraver's signature 'BARRE' appears in small capitals at the base of the bust near the lower rim. The portrait occupies the majority of the field, with a broad flat field framing the effigy and a finely milled border at the edge. |
