| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse features the coat of arms of Venezuela centrally positioned in the field, comprising a quartered shield displaying a sheaf of wheat, crossed arms with a sword and a fasces, and a white horse in full gallop. The shield is flanked by an olive branch to the left and a palm branch to the right, and surmounted by a cornucopia and tropical foliage. Two scrolls below the shield bear the national mottoes INDEPENDENCIA, LIBERTAD, 5 DE JULIO 1811, 13 DE ABRIL 1864, and DIOS Y FEDERACION. The circular legend ESTADOS UNIDOS DE VENEZUELA runs along the upper periphery between two stars, while the lower field carries the inscriptions GRAM. 25, the date, and LEI 900, all separated by stars. |

Venezuela's 5 Bolívares was struck almost entirely in Europe — primarily at the Paris and Brussels mints — because the country lacked domestic minting infrastructure capable of handling large silver coinage for most of this period. The long date range conceals substantial gaps in production; issues were ordered in response to specific fiscal pressures rather than on any regular schedule, making certain individual dates genuinely scarce while others are comparatively plentiful.
The Y#24.1 and Y#24.2 varieties are distinguished principally by differences in the edge lettering.
